VS2010 Trial Activation Guidelines

There are four ways to activate a trial version of Visual Studio 2010 (including those versions downloaded from the Microsoft Store, VLSC, or MSDN) once you have obtained a full product key. All four options are listed below. Please note that you only need to perform one of these listed options.
Note: You can use any of the 4 options presented here to activate the product. We recommend using Option 1 for most cases. In each case setup will use the existing files without needing to copy anything else unless additional items are installed as part of options 2, 3 & 4.
All screen shots in this document are from Visual Studio 2010 Professional running on Windows 7. Other combinations of Visual Studio editions and Windows versions may render slightly differently.

If you do not have one of these, please see option 1 through 3.
1. Download the Visual Studio 2010 setup ISO image, if you haven’t done so already. These setups are pre-padded (embedded with a product key).
2. Run setup.exe from the ISO image Setup folder. You can access setup using one of the following ways:
• Extract contents of the ISO image into a local folder on your machine.
• Burn a DVD media from the ISO image.
• Mount ISO image as virtual drive (do not mount the ISO image as a folder on an existing drive).
3. Click Next on Maintenance Mode welcome page.
4. Click Activate in the Upgrade Product License section.
